San Jose EarthquakesSan Jose Earthquakes - On June 15th, 1994 the city of San Jose became one of the first five charter members in MLS and was later added to the western conference. Before becoming a part of MLS, the San Jose Earthquakes competed in the North American Soccer League and enjoyed a large amount of success in the 1970’s and 80’s. Originally named the San Jose Clash when they joined MLS, the Earthquake moniker did not retake shape until the 2000 season. The Earthquakes earned their first MLS Cup title in 2001 and a second in 2003. After the franchise moved to Houston in 2006, a new MLS team was brought back to the Bay area in 2008 maintaining the Earthquakes name.
